Daniel Durst is a bassist, improviser, educator, and composer based in Brooklyn, NY.

Known for his warm touch, deep sense of groove, and meditative approach to improvisation, Daniel brings his musical personality across a variety of genres from jazz to noise to indie rock. His peers have described his playing as "like a warm blanket you can do anything in." His current musical endeavors find him on double bass, electric bass, and synthesizer.

Hailing from the Bay Area, Daniel is an alumnus of the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music as well as the Banff Workshop for Jazz and Creative Music. He has been mentored by creative music masters such as Bob Cranshaw, Ben Street, Jane Ira Bloom, and Thomas Morgan. He can often be found performing at New York venues such as Bar Next Door, Cmon Everybody, and Rockwood Music Hall and has performed at major music festivals such as SXSW and Internationales Jazzfestival Bern.
